About Us.
At the invitation of the Brazil-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK), lawyer Mauricio Nucci, a partner in the Tax Law Department, delivered a lecture on Thursday, August 24th. The presentation was part of a series of discussions focused on «The Major Changes Brought by Tax Reform.»
The event, which was held in person and exclusively for members, took place at the AHK São Paulo headquarters. AHK São Paulo is an institution that consistently invests in events with tax-related themes for its members, which are primarily composed of German-origin industries established in Brazil, some of which are our clients. «Our members are increasingly demanding this topic, and even with the agenda nearly booked until the end of the year, we need to make room and organize this type of event,» said Andreia Santos, Director of Associative Affairs and Events. According to the institution’s Legal Director, Ms. Claudia Bärmann Bernard, AHK plans to host another event like this as soon as the legislative process in the Senate concludes its work. «We’ll have to do it again,» Claudia said, considering the high number of registrations and venue capacity.

The occasion was a privileged opportunity for members to delve deeper into the study of Proposed Constitutional Amendment (PEC) No. 45 of 2019, which was approved by the Chamber of Deputies in early July (2023) and is currently under review in the Federal Senate. In his presentation, Mauricio Nucci provided an extensive overview of PEC 45, particularly focusing on the probable Brazilian model of a «dual» Value-Added Tax (VAT) that will replace COFINS, IPI, and PIS (federal taxes); as well as ICMS and ISS (state and municipal taxes).
