Since March 2021, we have been formally committed to the global #HeForShe movement, becoming its signatories (No. 2221499) and advocates. #HeForShe is a movement initiated by UN-Women to encourage dialogue among men and boys, about how they can act as allies in promoting gender equity.
This year, International Women’s Day (March 8) celebrates the theme «DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality». From the dawn of computing to the present time, women have made incalculable contributions to the digital world we live in. Their achievements have gone against all odds in a field that has historically neither welcomed nor appreciated them. Even today, many cultural, educational, and social barriers still obstruct girls’ and women’s access to the universe of technology. As a result, the under-representation of women in the decision-making and control spheres of technologies ― this includes, for example, the development of algorithms and applied mathematical models ― projects itself onto practically everything today.
Among us, it is not rhetoric
Vaz de Almeida Advogados is proud of its uninterrupted history of respect for women. The facts speak for themselves: 50% of the seats on the Strategic Leaders Committee (2023) are held by #Women. On the other hand, a powerfully synergistic ecosystem is never definitively won. That is why we recognize that respect for diversity and gender equity is done «on the go» and requests, an ongoing, educational process.
Men: use your power of influence. Talk about respect for women with your friends, wherever you are. At work, at the bar, at the barbershop, in the pit, on the mat, at the stadium, or at the gym. Practice and encourage the practice of gender equity in all your social roles. Just that!
